                    Producer Information

Maison SAUVION is located in the heart of the Nantes vineyards at Chteau du Clray-Sauvion in Eolie. Eolie, land of the wind, thus evoking the gentle ocean breeze which caresses the vines. Acquired by Ernest SAUVION in 1935, Chteau du Clray-Sauvion is, with its old vaulted cellars, one of the oldest properties in the Svre et Maine vineyards. It covers 95 hectares, planted mainly with Muscadet Svre & Maine, but also Gros-Plant, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. The soils are silico-clay, rather late but rich terroir, with high aging potential. Maison SAUVION has always occupied a very special place within the vineyard through its style, the quality of its Muscadet as well as its distribution mainly in traditional circuits or in niche markets. To assert its difference, Maison SAUVION offers Haute Culture de Sauvion , a line which brings together in a refined presentation Muscadet gastronomy expressing finesse, elegance and style which characterize the SAUVION “signature”. These Muscadet Haute Culture also reveal the characteristics of the terroir and some, through their structure and richness, become astonishing vintages for keeping, thus recalling the Burgundian origin of the melon grape variety. From the start of its activity, Maison SAUVION has done everything possible to give letters of nobility to its Muscadet, thus promoting the entire appellation. Today, Maison SAUVION exports more than 60% of its wines to more than 80 countries, thus becoming the ambassador of the Nantes vineyards. Muscadet wines are found on the most prestigious tables around the world. Pierre-Jean Sauvion, son of Yves Sauvion, was born in the middle of the garden, his parents’ house is surrounded by vines. Raised in the wine industry since his childhood, passionate about wine culture, Pierre-Jean is an oenologist, graduated from the University of Bordeaux. After his studies, he made wines in California, Australia, Alsace, Cahors, Bordeaux… then returned to the family home, at Chteau du Clray – Sauvion in 2004. From now on, Pierre-Jean, “Pleasure Maker”, shapes the wines of Maison Sauvion, for our greatest pleasure, to the glory of the wines.
