Producer Information
Trivento Bodegas y Viedos is a large Argentinian wine company. It makes a range of different brands of wine from vineyards in Mendoza, from some of the company’s most famous grape varieties, including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Bonarda and Chardonnay. Trivento, or “three winds”, takes its name from the Polar, Zonda and Sudestada winds that blow across Mendoza. The business was founded in 1996 with a winery and a 154 hectare (380 acre) vineyard in Maip named Los Vientos. There are now around 1500 hectares (3700 acres) of vines across eight properties in Mendoza, from Finca Los Indios near San Carlos up to Finca Tres Porteas, just east of Mendoza city. An art and wine tourism facility was opened at Trivento’s winery in 2011. Eolo, named after Aeolus, the mythical Greek keeper of the winds, is the flagship wine. It is a single-vineyard Malbec from a site in Lujn de Cuyo that rises around 3300ft (1000m) above sea level on the northern bank of the Mendoza river. However, Trivento makes a wide range of other wines under various other brand names. The Golden Reserve and Reserve series are both made up of single-variety wines from Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Amado Sur brand comprises a blend of Malbec with Syrah and Bonarda, plus a Torronts-based blend with Viognier and Chardonnay. Trivento also make a couple of single-vineyard sparkling wines, as well as a late-harvest Viognier Sauvignon Blanc wine called Brisa de Abril.
