Producer Information
Cosentino Winery is a Napa Valley wine producer that was famous for making one of the first Meritage wines, The Poet. This Bordeaux blend was first released in 1989, although the estate itself was established by Mitch Cosentino in 1980 with an inaugural vintage in 1981. Cosentino is located in the highly regarded subregion of Oakville and produces a range of wines categorized by the Flagship, Reserve, and the THE Series. Cosentino produces wines from a number of grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. The estate’s flagship, The Poet, is primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blended with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Cosentino is also well-known for long championing the Lodi AVA in California’s Central Valley. Since 1990, the estate has produced the majority of its THE series wines, which today make up the winery’s largest volume of production, in the region.
