Producer Information
Domaine Roux Pere & Fils is a Burgundy wine producer located in the village of Saint-Aubin, in the Cte de Beaune. It makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from both the Cte de Beaune and the more northerly Cte de Nuits subregion, as well as the Cte Chalonnaise to the south. The family-owned company is one of the top 10 largest landholders in Burgundy and exports to more than 50 countries worldwide. The domaine was founded by Fernand Roux in 1885 with a mere four hectares (10 acres) of vineyard land in Saint-Aubin. Today, the estate has expanded to cover some 70 hectares (173 acres) throughout Burgundy, with land in Chambolle-Musigny, Chassagne-Montrachet, Gevrey-Chambertin and Aloxe-Corton, among others. Domaine Roux produces a range of quality levels, from basic Bourgogne Blanc and Rouge to Premier Cru Pinot Noir wines and grand cru Chardonnay. Some of the domaine’s top Chardonnay climats include the Premier Cru sites La Chatenire and Les Cortons in Saint-Aubin, Les Macherelles in Chassagne-Montrachet and Le Poruzot in Meursault. Roux has also made wines from the grand cru Corton-Charlemagne and Montrachet vineyards. Top Pinot Noir bottlings include those from Les Valozires in Aloxe-Corton and Les Petits Vougeots in Vougeot.
