        Producer Information

Domaine Bart is a wine estate in Marsannay in the northern Cte de Nuits in Burgundy, chiefly producing red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. Pierre Bart represents the sixth generation of the family to run the estate. There are 22 hectares (54 acres) of estate vineyards, mostly in Marsannay, making nine different single-vineyard Pinot Noir wines. Domaine Bart also has plots of Pinot Noir in Fixin, Santenay, and the grand crus Bonnes Mares and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bze. The domaine’s Chardonnay plots are in Marsannay, Santenay and Savigny-ls-Beaune. The Pinot Noir is usually de-stemmed, although in some years the top wines may include up to 50 percent whole bunches. The fruit is cold-macerated for a week before wild yeast fermentation with pumping over and pigeage (punchdowns). The aim is to produce gently-extracted, fruity wines. Domaine Bart uses new oak sparingly the grand cru wines may see up to 50 percent new oak, and some of the heavier Marsannay wines up to 25 percent. However, the Bourgogne Rouge and the lighter Marsannay wines see no new oak at all.
