Producer Information
Henri Moroni had been growing grapes in hallowed vineyards for years, selling his production in barrels to wine merchants of the day. In 1940, he decided to bottle the wines himself, attend more to quality than volume, and create a brand to meet the needs of more discerning consumers. Domaine Veuve Henri Moroni was thus born. Now, generations later, this nine hectare estate has become a true family affair as brothers Christophe and Philippe, along with their sister Catherine, manage all aspects of this fine domaine. The team tends their vineyards meticulously by hand with careful eco-sound practices, including bio-alternative vine and soil treatments instead of chemicals whenever possible. At harvest, about 30 friends, family members and students come together to gently pick the grapes by hand. In the cellar, the domaine avoids excessive manipulation and too much new oak. With enviable holdings in Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, the domaine gains most of its attention from these wonderful, cellar-worthy white wines, but they also produce a wide range of other classically elegant white and red Burgundies. BurgDirect is the exclusive provider of these fine wines in the United States.
