        Producer Information

(Chteau) Le Puy is a certified organic and biodynamic wine estate located in Bordeaux, France. It formerly produced its red and white wine under the Francs Ctes de Bordeaux AOP, but now uses the Vin de France designation. The estate owns 51 hectares (126 acres) of vineyard land spread over three separate plots on the second-highest point in the Gironde department. Soils are mainly clay-silt-limestone. These vineyards are certified by Ecocert and the Chinese government as organic and Demeter-certified as biodynamic. Further to this, the estate has been working since 2021 with the University of Geneva in Switzerland on research to reduce copper-based treatments commonplace in organic farming. The vineyards are planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carmenre, and Semillon; with an average of 50 years of age. From 2019, some rows of the ancient varieties Counoise, Chenanson, Len de l’El and Castets were introduced in repsonse to the effects of climate change. Great emphasis is placed on biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem, reflecting the long family history working the property on a diversified and self-sufficient basis. Forest, meadows and a pond account for half of the estate. Recently, shrubs such as blackcurrant and eleagnus have been planted among the vine rows to maintain pollination routes for insects.
