      Reviews:

      • Wine Spectator: A powerhouse. Big and sophisticated, combining lemon and grapefruit notes with candied fruits, roasted nuts and coffee. Fresh, dry and finely detailed, with finesse and a lingering finish driven by acidity.
      • Wine Advocate: Disgorged in 2013, this bottle of Bollinger’s 1996 Extra-Brut R. D. vindicates the house’s decision to harvest late in this high-acid vintage, as even though the 1996 has a notably low pH of 2.93, the wine also possesses the maturity of fruit to balance it. Bursting with aromas of golden orchard fruit, crme brle, espresso roast, spices, warm bread, smoke and honeycomb, with time in the glass hints of dried fruits and marmalade emerge. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, layered and vinous, with a textural attack and an ample core of fruit that’s complemented by a pearly mousse, concluding with a long, saline, bone-dry finish.

Champagne Bollinger is one of the most famous houses in Champagne, in northern France. It is notable for its muscular, Pinot Noir-dominant cuve, and is widely available around the world. The house, originally known as Renaudin-Bollinger & Cie, was founded in 1829. It passed through generations of the family of Bollinger until 2008 when, for the first time in its history, the chairman came from outside of the family. Champagne Bollinger is still independently owned by Socit Jacques Bollinger.Bollinger is located in A in the heart of Champagne, and the majority of the vines are located on premier cru and grand cru plots. The house style is focused on Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier being used to enhance rather than dominate. Pinot Noir makes up no less than 60 percent of all of the Bollinger collection, and there is no Blanc de Blanc in the portfolio.
