Philippe de Castaigne started producing cognac in 1860 and remained doing so until the end of the 19th century. His business ended up collapsing, most likely due to the phylloxera outbreak. In 1989, the brand was re-introduced by Philippe Valentin-Dulac, related to Philippe de Castaigne. The distillerys old stocks where bottled and released under intriguing names such as Trs Vieux, Extra Vieux, Reserve Ancienne Fins Bois, Napoleon and this Trs Rare.

Nose: It has very pleasant and lovely aromas.
Palate: The palate is an explosion of delicate flavors, nice and delightful mouthfeel.
Finish: Finish is very smooth and long.

Philippe de Castaigne started producing Cognac in 1860 and remained doing so until the end of the 19th century. Most likely his business collapsed due to the Phylloxera outbreak which ended the rain of Cognac which lost her dominant position to whisky, a position which would never be conquered again.
