Producer Information
Proemio – Prologue in medieval old Spanish, means prologue or first page. This is in fact the beginning of the history of the winery. In 2001, Marcelo Bocardo, third generation winemaker and descendant of a family of Italian immigrants, founded Proemio with the aim of producing high quality wines that truly represent the passion of their ancestors for viticulture and a legacy for generations to come . Marcelo Bocardo could be described as a new wave of Argentine winemakers, who avoid over-extraction and excess oak, with a focus on the expression of terroir (either Valle de Uco, Perdriel-Lujn de Cuyo or Maip). At Proemio they take care of their vineyards sustainably, certified by OIA in 2017, focused on caring for the environment and maintaining a positive role in the local community. The grapes come from various terroirs with unique soils, altitude and climates.
