Nose: “Lots of earthiness. Peat. Salt. Maritime. A pinch of spices. White pepper. Traces of red fruit, very subtle. Salted peanuts. There is some meatiness.”
Palate: “Lots of salt. Sea breeze. Red fruits in the background. Cocoa. Tons of earthiness. Spices. White pepper. Fat, thick and intense. Dessert chocolate. More fruit on the second sip. Quite oily structure.”
Finish: “Earthiness. Peat. Maritime. Wet forest moss dug up. Mass of salt. A pinch of spices. White pepper. Salted, grilled citrus fruits underneath. Red fruits. Cherries. Meatiness. Notes reminiscent of grilled meat. Long finish.”
Distillery Information
Murray McDavid was established in 1996 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin, and Gordon Wright (who had previously been a director at Springbank Distillery). On 19 December 2000, Murray McDavid purchased the then-dormant Bruichladdich distillery and returned it to production.
