Strathisla Serie Artist #12 2002 20 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: “Full, developed. The very beautifully fruity (pear, lemon) and spicy (white pepper, nutmeg).”
Palate: “Rich yet creamy. The deliciously vanilla attack (milk tart) also reveals abundant nuts (almond, walnut, hazelnut, chestnut). The tenderly herbaceous mid-palate (basil, sage, sorrel) invites us to pick fruits from an orchard (pear, apple, peach, Mirabelle plum).”
Finish: “Long, well-balanced. On the finish, ointment notes and herbaceous (watercress, lambs lettuce) and vegetable garden (courgette flower) flavours bring lots of consistency.”
Distillery Information
It started life as the brewery of the local monastery and turned itself to the making of whisky in 1786, one of the few distilleries in what is now the Speyside region to go legal. It was known as Milltown/Milton until 1870, but its whisky was long known as Strathisla after the river which it sits beside.
